Proof of Identity Requirements

Starting your application for government docs means proving your identity, and HelloGov makes this step easy. Whether you need a passport, driver's license, or another government doc, having the correct proof of identity is essential. We're here to guide you through the process and make sure you’ve got everything you need for a smooth and quick approval.
Here's what you can use as your primary proof of identity:
- Previous U.S. passport (mutilated, altered, or damaged passports are not acceptable)
- Naturalization Certificate
- Driver's license older than six months
- City, state or federal government ID
- Military ID (military and dependents)
If you don’t have primary proof of identity, you can submit 6-10 secondary documentation items from the list below. Documents with your photo, signature, and/or physical description are especially helpful.
